"Limitless" is a new 28.7m catamaran offshore support boat built for Offshore Unlimited in Hobart, Tasmania.
The design is based on Incat Crowther’s recent successes in catamaran workboat design, utilising their high carrying capacity hullforms and capitalising on their experience to develop durable aluminium structures, and Offshore Unlimited's 25m vessel Unlimited.
"Limitless" is a high speed catamaran workboat capable of carrying 50 tonnes of deadweight with a service speed of 25 knots. The main deck has a carrying capacity of 25 tonnes, arranged for multiple uses and includes a moonpool for exploration services and the ability to carry 2 x 20ft containers. The deck is serviced by a Heila deck crane capable of lifting 6.5 tonnes, a luffing A-frame, remote release tow hook with a 15 tonne SWL and a 2 tonne SWL capstain.
The main accommodation is located forward and contains space for a crew of 14. The main deck cabin houses the galley and crew mess area, along with two crew cabins for the senior crew. Wash facilities are also located on this deck, one accommodating laundry facilities. Junior crew cabins are located in both the port and starboard hull with a large pantry located aft in the port hull. Day accommodation and seating is provided for up to 46 persons.
The wheelhouse is located on the upper deck and features all round visibility from the helm seat. Crew and passenger seating is provided around the perimeter of the cabin. Two wing control stations are fitted forward on either side with a tender/rescue boat located aft within easy reach of the deck crane. The latest electronic navigation aids, a full GMDSS compliant ship radio station, along with Inmarsat Fleet broadband and Iridium Openport satellite communcation systems are fitted.
Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines each producing 1,350hp, the vessel has a service speed of 25 knots. With a fuel capacity of 30,000 litres "Limitless" will have a range of over 2,000nms at 22 knots. Limitless will be in USL 2A survey to 600nms and 1B 200nms from the Australian coast.
